I was going to write about how I carried my Case CV medium Stockman again yesterday for the first time since I sliced my finger open with it a few months ago, when something else happened I figured I'd write about. I was in an alligator enclosure with one of our new guys feeding some chicken and was squatting in front of the gators trying to get a specific gator out of the water. I am training them for an upcoming show, and was trying to get this gator to stand tall before feeding him, when another gator lunged out of the water and tagged me right on my right knee. I was lucky in that I jumped up as I saw him coming and was thus able to get my knee out of the way before he chomped down, but I still got a couple of teeth in my knee from the impact of him colliding with me. It was a scary moment. He didn't continue coming after me, though. As a matter of fact, when he landed, he just looked at me like "What?" I think he was going after the chicken in my hand more then anything, and the injury reall isn't that bad, but it was pretty friggin scary nontheless, the thought of how bad that could have gone. I DID use the stockman to cut a piece of gauze, though, for the knee. LOL.

Glad things didn't turn out worse. Gators, Grizzlys, and venomous snakes are all on my "avoid at all cost" list. I was fishing some local ponds in south Georgia a couple weeks ago. When I found out that some of the ponds had gators in 'em, I decided a rods length (7') from the waters edge was was as close as I wanted to get :D.

BTW, I had the same knife in my pocket. Case 3318 yellow CV ;). It bit me once as well. It taught me to keep my middle finger out of the way when closing the spey blade one handed.

Again, glad you're okay.

Chris

Dad said, "Always have a knife on you." ;)
That Gator was going after the chicken.

This particular forum is not a knife discussion forum. Please take the knife chatter elsewhere.

Sorry, Ken, but this is where Blues put this. I thought it belonged in the traditional forum, but I guess I was wrong. However, now I guess I wasn't. He has a habit of moving things everywhere. Sorry for the inconvenience, but you might want to take it up with him.

You do not need to tell me who did what or why. This post does not fit in Traditional based on that forums rules and it certainly comes VERY close to not belonging here due to the knife talk.
