Kevin Cashen MS maintained the combination of all round good bloke and damn fine Bladesmith when I met him and his lovely wife at Blade this year. Kevin is well known for his excellent damascus and his passion for swords, but when he is in the mood he also turns out some fantastic Bowies. This is an example of one such blade: With a blade length of 10 1/4 inches and OAL just over 15 in, this is a beautifully sized and balanced piece. The flowing blade is comprised of 3 bar composite damascus in random/twist patterns, the steels are O1 and L6. The Guard and Pommel are 160 layer damascus of the same materials, the spacers are Sterling Silver, and of course the handle is a beautifully shaped piece of Sambar Stag.

I couldn't work out which picture I like, so heres all three, but I suspect I will end up re-taking it:

That's an absolutel outstanding bowie. (I predict you'll be hearing me say that a lot in days to come ;) ). Great feel in the hand on that one too. Congrats to Keving on his terrific execution. And as for you Stephen, may I suggest a super-absobent bib to cope with all the drooling you are going to be doing? :p

His work never ceases to amaze. Such tight damascus patterns and an overall eye for design that puts in just the right amount of detail without making it gaudy or too busy. Congratulations.

A wonderful display of bladesmithing. Nice score Stephen. Many collectors have told me on the phone that Kevin had two of the nicest, AND best priced pieces of the show.

What is the spacer material? I'm not sure I love that... but overall the knife is just gorgeous... lines, choice of material, execution... VERY nice my friend.

I took my intro class under Kevin and all I can say is he was awsome then and he is awsome now. He is a great bladesmith with a mind far ahead of most.

This was one of my favorites at the show too. I always enjoy seeing Kevin's work because his passion and expertise shows in everything he makes. Congratulations on your acquisition, and thanks for sharing these fine pictures.
