A Bowie For A Friend

The blade for this bowie was made about 15 years ago, purely as a filing exercise. I was intrigued by the Sheffield exhibition bowies, and simply wanted to understand the detailing along the spine and the little area at the end of the false edge. I never intended to build a knife around it. A very good friend (and Canadian member of this forum) saw the blade kicking around the shop a few years later, and asked me to complete it for his superb collection of classic knives. We decided on a simple treatment, and a very short 10 years later it was done. For me it was a joy to work on a simple fixed blade again, and then be rewarded with a big smile on my friends face when he received the piece at the CKG show this weekend.
Sorry about the photograph, it was a shoot and run type of thing.

No doubt worth the wait. I agree with Marcel - that's different-looking Wolfe knife to be sure, but very cool.

I like the paradox of classic and contemporary design elements.
An extraordinary and unique piece in my opinion.
Your friend must be extremely pleased.
