Hi folks,

Here is a medium sized bowie for the upcoming Arkansas Knifemakers Show in Little Rock. It will be on my table although it's already bought 'n paid for.

It's forged from W-2 Steel. The guard is O-1 and the fittings are nickel silver. The handle is an interframe construction with finely fileworked liners (not visible on this home photo). The scales are presentation-grade African Blackwood.

Hope you like it.

Terry,
Lovely Bowie as usual. Looking forward to seeing it in person at Little Rock. Someone's getting a beautiful knife.
See you there,
John

Terry, that is very nice, I like the notch at the end of the clip. Are the pins in the handle nickel silver? And, did you round then before you put them in?

Thanks guys,

This is the first time I've ever posted one of my pieces on the internet. Thanks for the positive replies.

D lisch - Yes, the pins are nickel silver and annealed (very important). I carefully shape the heads with a small ball peen hammer, then continue to shape them with a modified nail set. Just tapping round and round until they are the proper domes I want. Gentle sanding and firm buffing gets me where I want.

Cheers,

Great entry, Terry! That's a knife that has styling that appeals to me--it has a Hill Pearce flavor to the handle.

Congrats on such nice work. Now post the filework....

Very smooth looking knife.

With a last name like yours you have to have Dutch forefathers:)

Very nice. I like the shape of the handle and the notch above the end of the clip is gives it a nice touch.

Terry, that is really nice. I look forward to seeing it and you there. Hopefully no snow.

That is a great knife. I read on other forums how you made it. I wish I had seen that photograph a couple of weeks ago or so:)

How does one get a knife made by you?

Terry and I had a lot of nice conversations, and this knife REALLY appealed to me as well. NOW we get to see that lovely filework... :p

While I was at it, Terry added a find stag bowie:

I gave up a few elements in the top shot that deserve a second chance. Check this out:
