[/IMG] A few years ago, I was contacted by an agent from the production company that was going to make the "ALAMO". He said they wanted a Bowie different from the old iron mistress. This one is what I came up with, but by the time I made it, the agent was let go, and Ron Howard decided not to direct the movie. A little while later the agent was rehired, but those in charge had already decided on the knife you saw in the movie. The agent protested, but it was too late. No real problem, I sold it to a collector the day I got the word, but it would have been kewl to see it on the big screen. 12"x 1 3/4"x 1/4", Ebony and nickel silver.

Beautiful knife and a lot better than the one used in the movie. I know the armorer in Alamo. Things like that send him up the wall. He and I are involved in a mini series now where they needed rifles. He bought a batch of imports for the troops and I built one for the closeups. If they make the thing now (30 million plus and a year and a half later and still haven't shot the first foot of film) they have decided to take out the gun related scenes.

Your Bowie and my Marshall rifle will make great conversation pieces for our kids.

Thats a Great piece of work! Wish you could shrink the photo down just a touch so I could see the whole thing.

David, the steel is 01. Raymond, If I knew how to reduce the photo size, I surely would. I barely know how to post photos at all. Thanks all, for the compliments. Wick Ellerbe

That is one stunning bowie, big screen or not you should be proud of that.If you dont mind me asking how do you do the choil so fancy ? I keep seeing knives like that but i forget to ask.

Thanks Peter. Joe, it ain't easy, and takes awhile. In this case, I pencil it out. If it looks right, then I lightly scribe it, drill a starter hole, then start fileing with needle files. I will use a dremel anywhere I can, but most is fileing.

hey it might have been a blessing-that was one stinker of a movie, didnt deserve a piece as incredable as you made-

Nice job Wick

I even started on it :( and then the powers that be steped on the deal..
