I decided that i didn't want to store my knives in a cardboard box anymore.

I have no real skill at building stuff so there is some stuff that look bad but whatever, it work ;)

that thing weight 40lbs with everything inside

how do you store / display your collection? :)

In a safe. Can't take a chance on someone breaking in and getting the stuff I have in there. The safe is not 100% but better than anything else you can do in home other than secret hidden place no one would ever find. I do have one of those as well to put things I could not ever replace.

Good point about safes but they are no absolute. My neighbor had a tragic event with a break in, they stole the whole safe. So important tip- bolt em down!

I've got two dogs and possibly a shotgun that would freak out if someone came in my house :D

if it wasn't for the ak47, i would cut the box in 2, it's 44 inch long and moving it is awkward

I only had a 16 inch wide plywood otherwise i would have made it wider to make it smaller

it's wood that i had around me, the 2x3 was twisted and useless in itself, you can see some of the twist on the picture

Currently mine are stored on numerous flat surfaces.

The kitchen counter and table, my nightstand, living room end table, my reloading bench, the shelf in the safe, and my son's bed (he doesn't live at home anymore)

Congrats on an economical storage system that works for you!
You could cut it in two, and store the ak47 separately - 2 smaller ones would be easier to move.
