I tend to pick up knives here and there. Some months, nothing; others, pretty good. That being said one place I keep going back to gets stuff in on occasions. Hugely varied; I've seen Bob Kramer Kitchen Knives (originals) and piles of cheap Chinese stuff. They usually have some form of cutlery on hand, but you never know. Last year I picked up some push buttons, and before that the occasional blade or two. A friend took home a set of original Zulu war spears for his man cave (his kids think he's awesome, the wife, not so much.)

But it's been a few years since they had a large selection of stuff all at once, and last night was due. I didn't get everything they had, and I got a pile of stuff mixed in with this (watch bands, 100 year old eyeglasses, a coin purse, Starrett feeler gauges, 4 old lighters, golf markers, a luggage tag, etc.)

Still, after pulling all the other stuff out, this is what I ended up with:

I'd love to meet the guy who had these originally. He had to be a fellow "knife nut". There's not much duplication, and some very nice stuff, and most of it is at least a little used. But it's also obvious that nobody has cared for these in a while. So I've got something to keep the hands occupied while I watch the boobtube.

I'll post pics of these as they come out and get some care and oil. If there's anything you think you'd like to see, let me know and I'll concentrate on getting it out.

As a teaser I'll post this lovely little Hen & Rooster by Voss Cutlery. I just wish I could get the pearl to show well; it's amazing. This one looks like new.

those green and yellow synthetic jacks look like their in fantastic shape.

Very nice!

The camp knife and the money clip have my attention...can't wait for better looks..

Cool thread:thumbsup:

Old lighters?
Zippo?
Ronson Butane?
Ronson Lighter fluid?
Coffee/End Table Lighter? (too big to carry around in a pocket)

Nice selection of knives. :)
That Scout/Camp knife looks interesting. (top center right, under the fancy 'gator or lizard skin? sheath/slip.)
Is it an Imperial, Camillus, Colonial, or Western?

Near the upper left corner the two with the bails..... What are they? Whenever is cool. Great find my blade brother!

Here's the "other stuff" that was in the lot. Minus the watch bands, luggage tag, and a couple other misc. pieces that hit the trash.

The gold colored lighter is a Zippo, I'm not sure what the others are. The cigar cutter is neat, but the least fancy one I've ever seen. The feeler gauges are in my toolbox. The glasses seem to be basic readers. I'm pretty sure the rims are gold plated; not a spot of tarnish on them. The brown sheath apparently had one of the knives in it (based on the verdigris on both) but it wasn't the knife it was originally fit for.

Wow! Top left the Bigger E/O looks a nice Knife Big Swedge going on- Long Pull main, nice Bone lying next to the ever popular Camullis E/O?, and that other bigger E/O at the bottom! - Wow!Those beautiful Bone Knives- the smaller Serpentine, Stockman, Sleevboards, a wee pressed Stag German one underneath in the middle - That Scout! Good Grief!!! I think you have made up for the quieter times of when you havent bought any knives!!
Cant wait to see what these Knives turn out to be/like!, That whole grouping of Knives - middle/left at the bottom look very very interesting as theres some very nice and old Bone there!
Wonder who made that Wooden Equal-ender?
Well done -

I wouldn't have been able to get the money out quick enough. Wonderful pile of knives and other things!

So I've started on pulling these out and spending a little time with them. Some are purely junk, but I learn from most even if I have to take a picture to see what's there. Here's a case in point; this is a cheap little single blade that probably sold for (way) less than a dollar. But the bolsters are integral, probably to help simplify assembly and fitting of the celluloid scales. The scales are fairly attractive; the red really pops in the right light. (They have started to go though and so this one is not sticking around.) The pins are tapered and inserted from what would normally be the reverse side. They were peened and ground flush. The blade was very highly polished (note it has very little degradation due to this vs. the body of the knife.) It may be simple and inexpensive, but it's probably outlived whoever made it. I doubt it ever got used. I can see this being a Christmas or birthday present from a youngster to someone they know who carries a pocket knife. Held on to for the memories; not used because it's "special".

Here's another couple nice Sleeveboard Jacks that apparently just sat in a drawer for the past 40+ years. These are clamshell construction, with a thin synthetic wrapped around the stamped scales. It's obviously attractive, and from a distance hard to tell from celluloid or resin. It had to be a lot cheaper to manufacture though. See if you can guess the maker...

I held off on showing the brand(s) because it surprised me.

Notice that the same patent is referenced. I'd never associated Hammer Brand with Imperial before. And my experience with Imperial clamshells led me to believe they were all made in Ireland. Back to the books...

(any streaking on the blades is oil I didn't get off.)

Another new one for me was this little money clip/lobster. I've never heard of Anvil brand. The pattern on the clip reminds me of a lighter my dad had (don't remember the maker). I see some oil still leaked out on this one too. Looks unused otherwise.

This little Keen Kutter #0214 make me happy and sad at the same time. There it is, nice bone, beautifully assembled, shield, long pull, nail notch so the pen can sit extra low, even the etching still on the blade. But the horrible sharpening (using the word generously) and the crack are upsetting.

I’m on my way. I’ll be there in 12 hours. :D On second thought maybe I’ll wait a while til they restock.

But seriously, that is very cool that you have a place like that. I wish I had a place around here where I could find a tenth of that amount of cool stuff.

I’d like to see more of the double end jack next tomthe brown suede slip in the center of the pic. It looks like a twin to one I have, an old Remington, that dates from the ‘30s. Nice haul.
