My son, Colton, a six-year-old budding KnifeNut, was spending the weekend with his grandparents last weekend. He and his grandpa were outside doing one of their favorite things--whittling.
I don't know all the details, but somehow he made a mislick and sliced his hand between his thumb and forefinger. He wound up having to go in for three stitches, which he is inordinately proud of. The only thing he is prouder of is the fact that he didn't cry, either over the cut or the stitches.
My wife was a little upset, but I told her it was one of those inevitable things. One positive thing is that now he is aware of the fact that those neat, sharp, pointy things can bite you.
