A Buck for my daughter

She's a CCW holder but says she would never fight with a knife, so tactical is not an issue.

She loves the weight and blade of my 345 Vantage but prefers a back lock.

She loves the looks and back lock of my 110 but says it is too thick and too heavy and she doesn't like the clip point.

She doesn't care about one hand opening.

If I buy it for her it needs to be Buck and Made in USA.

She works at Cabela's so she sees a lot of nice knives.

Suggestions?

Pond, show her some Buck-lights. My wife likes them. I got her several and she likes them all. The 426 & 424. You can find them with drop points. They are light and have a back-lock plus made in U.S.A.. DM

Look at a Spitfire (4-1/4" closed) or a Mini Spitfire (3-3/4" closed). Both are very thin and both are lockbacks and made in the USA. Comes in several colors and is inexpensive.

Or a Buck 500 Duke (4-1/4" closed) or a 501 Squire (3-3/4" closed) if she likes more of a traditional folder.

Her in a position to see lots of knives complicates things. However, the Duke is a real classy model and hides well in a handbag. DM

501 Squire from the Buck Custom Shop. S30V Satin Finish Blade. Water-buffalo handle. Rivets.

Actually OK with the non-Buck suggestions, though I wouldn't probably buy them unless my daughter really set her heart on one.

No need to be. It was a good suggestion, except this is the Buck forum ;)

I think the Custom Shop 501 with S30V would be a great suggestion except I would get the wood as it is only $86.50. I would spend a tad more and have it engraved for her. That would be a nice gift. Come to think of it, that would be a nice gift for me, too...:)

That ought to be a nice gift for any Buck fan. I've got a CS 501 with S30V and walnut scales on the way (well, almost definitely still in the queue after just one week). Can't wait.

What does she use a knife for?

If she likes the 110 but wants something a) just as nice or nicer, b) thinner and lighter, and c) in a drop point, then the 500 is worth a close look.

If she doesn't use a pocket knife for food (which, IMO demands a longer blade) then I would look at either the 501 or 55. Both nice pocket knife sized lock backs.

Let her look through the pic threads and decide for herself. Like DM said, the bucklites are a good choice. My wife, daughter, and granddaughters love their orangies.

Funny story drift, son in law telling me a few years back, sitting in church, heard a distinctive "click", looked over and youngest granddaughter had opened her orangie and trimming a thread. She was probably 16 or 17 at the time. He laughed but did talk to her about time and place.

Why not find her a 112 Ecolite with those wonderful paperstone handles? I think it came in black, dark red, and dark green and it is smaller than the 110.

Wow!

Have you seen the prices on the auction sites? Ouch!!!

How about an ordinary 112. You can use an Ecolite sheath, they're still on Buck's site, and it seems to fit the bill.
