Hello guys/gals here on the BUCK forum. I must admit that I am not really a BUCK collector per se but I have always had BUCK knives in my collection and respect them immensely. One of my first knives ever was a BUCK "Stockman".

Just recently a friend of mine gave me a version of the BUCK model 110 with a gold colored coating on the blade. I had heard about this coating that it was actually supposed to be part of the blade and cutting edge. The knife had an instruction sheet that said to only sharpen this knife on one side. Can any of you guys/gals give me any input on this. I find this concept extremely interesting and would like to know more about it.

Also I have some older BUCK sharpening equipment. Is any of it collectible. Thanks a million in advance. JD Spydo

I just did that Search, and got quite a few interesting tidbits to ponder...

My question here is...Are Buckcote/Ionfusion the same as the "Titanium Aluminum Nitride" coating???

I have an older Bucklite 426 with a "black" blade, which I was told was the Titanium Aluminum Nitride...I have no way of knowing or testing, but can the scratches in the blade be repaired??? That is, can the finish be restored???

If that is what it is...

(Guy could of opened a can of pitchblack for all I know...) :D

Edit: I went to a chemical site to get the right nomenclature so I don't have to write that out again...TiAlN... :D
