Some of you may have seen the Paranee/Knight Combat Project knife that was recently available on the exchange. Well, I was lucky enough to be in position to say "I'll take it".
I'm guessing most of you have also seen the demonstration video Joe did with that beautiful knife. There is not much that I can add except that I'm absolutely thrilled to be its new owner. I haven't put it down much since it arrived (looking for some cardboard tubes to play with - and my family is starting to look at me even more funny now). I'll just say, it's very comfortable, fits my hand perfectly, and is extremely well balanced - aside from being a beautiful and functional work of art (my opinion of course). As most of you also know, Mr. Long made the gorgeous and perfectly complementary sheath to complete the package.

I was also drawn in by Joe's recent "enticing" video featuring a bullwhip. It just looked like too much fun. Something, I'm sure, most of us can always use more of. I contacted Heather, the maker of some of the bullwhips Joe displayed in the thread and she made this one for me. Heather was great to talk with and makes a very nice bullwhip. I'm still learning to drive it, but have been achieving some very satisfying "cracks".

I share these here, just because I like the idea that there is now a public record and they won't be forgotten regardless of where they are. Please forgive my very amateur pictures. Comments, corrections, additions, (verbal) whippings, are welcome. Thank you. Mike

I don't know which I like the best, the knife, the sheath or the bull whip. It's a tie! They're all great.

Just awesome Mike

Congrats on acquiring to excellent poeces of kit that I can also highly endorse :)

Some fun clips :)

Great pictures and it just doesn't get much better than a Knight/Paranee Fighter.....

There is a knot in the middle of your fall that will keep you from cracking properly.

Here's a diagram of a bullwhip....some like the wrist loop, some don't.

Foolish me. Thank you STeven. Now I can't wait to get out and try some cracking - knot free. Heather just saw this post and also pointed out the knot. I think the knot formed the first time I used the whip. It was dark out and the lighting was not so good. I didn't notice the knot had formed and when putting the whip away, I must have ignorantly assumed (there's that word) that the knot was a "feature". Thanks for pointing it out and for the diagram. I always do better with pictures. Mike

Good eye STeven

I should of caught that

We are going to be doing a whip video as soon as the weather warms up

Introducing Heather and her fine whips :)

Knot foolish, Mike, lol. The only reason I know that is because I've done it myself.:D

It's good to learn how to tie new poppers on and how to change your fall. You can learn these things online, there are plenty of diagrams.

On my quirt and short bullwhip(4') I like heavier falls, sort of indifferent on the longer bullwhips. David Morgan added the wrist strap on the Indiana Jones version, but I think if you know what you are doing with it, and/or want to use it as a head knocker, it gets in the way.

I toy around with the idea of cutting my wrist loop off, but will probably just get an 8' from Heather to play with and not mess with it.

Paracord whips are interesting to me, but have to admit to a preference for 'Roo hide for many reasons, including tradition.

Thanks again STeven - always helpful. And thank you for the kind comments Shawn and Doug.

It would be fun to try out a "hide" type of whip once I become more proficient with this one. I do think this one will keep me happy for a long time. Heather does nice work. Maybe a whip discussion at the Seattle Knife Show this year? Mike

Hide whips are works of art and I have a few that I really enjoy but with that said a well made nylon whip is a thing of beauty as well and handles the elements much better than leather

I have a few nylon whips but so far the one from Heather is a step above

This is my latest and I love it
