A Busch Knife

Here is an old Anheuser Busch champagne pattern knife. I believe made by Kastor Bros Solingen circa early 1900. Unfortunately the stanhope is now just a hole. At one time there was a glass bubble containing a pic of Mr Busch. The blades all snap nicely and I like the design. I am an avid corkscrew collector too so this encompasses both of my addictions.

I think there were a fair amount of these knives made but I don't have specific numbers. Note the wings of the eagle tucked behind the A. This is a more common variation. There are Busch knives with the eagle wings spread infront of the A. That is an earlier trade mark and more rare knife. A similar knife was also made with red and black enamel scales. Kastor also made these in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The red and black knife was revived in the 1950s by Schrade.

Very nice Upstream. Thanks for posting that. I was confident someone here would have one to show us. Your knife looks to be in excellent condition. Is the stanhope intact?

I'm fairly certain that Winchester made some too and they command a pretty penny, especially when the stanhope is still intact.

Unfortunately no the stanhope is missing.
I did notice some of your corkscrew collection in the other thread and it is quite impressive.
Thanks Rick

Thank-you Upstream. Although the knives themselves are highly collectable... an intact stanhope really adds to the value as you mentioned Durwood. Hopefully, there are more e.g.s forthcoming.
