I made a camp knife, then got an offer, so I sold it and made another, and sold it also. This one I think I will hang on to.

It is L6 steel and feels great in the hand. I have been chopping 2x4's and water bottles. The edge just doesnt seem to dull.

I made a knife that was nearly identical, and chose the one I liked. Then my wife saw them and made a different choice, so we compromised and went with the one she liked. (she thought it was prettier:confused: )

Here is the one that will be going hiking with me this summer

So... what do you think?

I have the other one listed in the for sale area for $170, so somewhere in there, depending on materials.

That's an amazingly good price! I'm not in the market for a new knife (sadly), but for a handmade knife of that quality, that price seems like a steal.

Thanks mountainman, I remember looking whistfully at custom knives that I could never afford. (I still do sometimes). I try to price my knives so that most people can afford them. I am fortunate enough to not have to rely on knifemaking as a sole source of income, otherwise, I would have to jack up the price a bit.:)

I was thinking it must be something like that. It's one thing for me to contemplate shelling out $170 for a nice knife vs. putting that money aside, but it's quite another for you to pay for all the equipment, facilities, supplies, labor, and the experience it took to get to this point -- all for $170! I'll definitely keep you in mind should I come into some extra money, as a quality tool at a very reasonable price like yours doesn't come along often. I just hope you'll make enough money to be able to keep working at your hobby!

Tim Gates (Mountain man sounded kinda funny)

However it was done it's meant to be your knife and I think a great choice.

That's Big Burly Bailey knife.
