I got my CV Chestnut Peanut a week ago and it's an awesome little knife. Its done every reasonable thin a know it's size could do. Now I'm deciding on a bigger Case knife and I'm stuck between two, the mini copperhead wharncliffe or the canoe. What are your thoughts and which one I should get and why? Thanks for the help.

Flip a coin. How could you go wrong?

I've long admired the canoe pattern, although I personally like very small traditional slip joints and would love a Baby Butterbean.

I'd go with the Canoe. The Copperhead is very close to the Peanut in size, so if you want to get something bigger it is not for you.
My Canoe carries very well in my watch pocket, I don't even notice it most of the time.

The mini copperhead is only about 1/4" longer than the peanut - 2 7/8" vs 3 1/8" closed. The canoe is 3 5/8" closed and looks much more substantial in body and blades. If you want to go with something noticeably different than the peanut, I'd say go canoeing.

If CV is important to you, I don't believe currently the mini-copperhead is available in CV. Not sure about the canoe.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Vanguard which canoe do you have? Is it the Amber bone CV?

Recently bought a Case canoe, CV, at the coop, in a small town near by. A darn fine knife.

The canoe is my favorite Case pattern. Pockets well in the watch pocket of your jeans. Loads of personality. Unintimidating but a hard worker. Just a very delightful knife.

I've got an amber bone one (cv).

From reading everyone's input, it seems the canoe has an almost unanimous vote. I was leaning towards it but these comments have helped sway me. I'm sure in some point in time I'll get the mini copperhead but I'll be ordering a canoe in a week or so. Now to decide which handle material to get :D Thanks to everyone for their input.

The canoe is not a pattern that I own. However, I do own many peanuts and a Wharncliffe Mini-Copperhead. The Mini-C is a fantastic knife and can't say enough good things about it, but it is very similar in size to the peanut, so if your goal is a larger case knife, I guess I would go with the canoe.

Then go and buy a mini-copperhead.

I own a Peanut and a Canoe. No Copperhead, til now.

But I would tend to the Canoe. You already have a nice little knife. A bigger on couldn´t be wrong. Especially when you plan to do longer workings with the knife. A bigger one is better in hand. For regular EDC tasks (food prep, letter, openening a package etc.) the peanut is perfect. No question.

And Canoe is a great pattern. I really like mine very much.

Kind regards
Andi

I agree with the comments on size. Sounds like you want to move up to a medium 3.5" frame. Don't forget about the stockman since it's the knife of the month.
