As some of you may recall, I've had some incredible dealings with my local pawnbroker and scored some really nice Case knives.
In one of my earlier posts, I alluded to a "Case Silver Script Mint Set 1 of 250" they had which I really hadn't paid much attention to, until now.
I had been out for a haircut today and the barber is near the shop, so I thought I'd pop in and see if anything new had come in. Nothing new, but I did give the set a more than passing glance this time. Having recently become a little more knowledgeable about Case knives, I noticed that something wasn't right about the set. As I looked at the COA and the knives in the case, I wasn't seeing any of the styles listed that should be there.
It became apparent that someone had swapped out the mint set knives or had gotten an empty case and used it to display their other Case knives. The guys let me open the case and look at the style numbers that were there and it was confirmed, along with noting that a lot of the knives just plain didn't fit the nests in the case.
They had been asking $499.00 for the set (which isn't a bad price for a Silver Script set) and now they were bummed that they would have to take the knives out and price them individually. Not that they were into it for that much. I asked what kind of deal they'd give me if I took them all, cash, right then and there. They worked it out and said because I'd gotten all the others and sent some business their way I could have them all for $200.00.

It's kind of a mixed bag, but here they are; I apologize for the so-so pics, I really need to find a better spot to do this.
There's a V5383, a V51165
a 53033, a couple of V5327's
a 5227, a 52087
a 52052, a 6.54052
and a 5318 HP
One's marked "Razor Edge" and another is a "75th Anniversary" comemmorative, and the two V5327's have different shields, along with some of the others having different shields. This should make for some interesting time at Case U, deciphering all the codes.
I feel really fortunate to have had the opportunity to make such a huge re-entry into the world of slip joint knives, and I want to thank all of you for indulging me as I "show off" the great scores. I do think it's time to slow down a little and enjoy what I've acquired so far. Besides, I have all these joints to oil now....
