While it appears that, in just a few months, switchblades will be legal in Texas, the state ban on carrying a dagger remains.
So, this fall, I suggest we leave our double edged and bayonet bladed knives at home.

And watch out for local ordinances.

Gives us a new goal for 2015 :) Pre-emption for sure (I hope) and maybe daggers/bowies authorized and/or length limits removed.

wow, glad you said something about the bayonet blade. I have been looking at the Ultratech bayo blade and did not realize it was sharp on both sides till I just looked. Now I have to figure out what I am going to get

Pre-emption is priority 1 for next session, as far as Texas knife law is concerned. San Antonio's BS laws need to be fixed... apparently (to the best of my research & knowledge), it is legal to carry up to a 5.5 inch FB, but ANY size locking blade is illegal!!! Perfect example of asinine laws at their finest.

I agree that the law needs to be state wide with no local changes. I have family in SA and the laws there are terrible. It's a step in the right direction with the switchblades though

Yes, no "daggers" and "dirks". I'm not sure how someone would define one of these if they saw it, but double-edged is pretty easy to recognize. Of course many people just dull the second edge.

I would prefer to use the term "auto", since the term "switchblade" has bad connotations with most people. Not like I need any more knives, but now I'll have to buy an auto for my collection just because.
