Well, I got my daughter to register & join the forum tonight. She will be TwinStick Jr on here. She loves knives as well. I had to spend $50 to prove a point today to her. She has been chomping at the bit for a Bear Grylls "ultimate survival knife." It was on sale so i finally gave in. I have been telling her since they came out that they were junk, but as anyone with children knows, sometimes they just gotta find out for themselves. So, got home, I finished sharpening it (it did shave hair new) & polished the edge with a ceramic stone. In no time she was chopping wood in the backyard. It did OK for what it was. After she got tired of chopping, she decided to see how well it stabbed. It stabbed well, but after the first stab, she decided to wiggle it left/right against the blade, instead of up/down with the blade. She promptly bent the tip. I bent it back & explained to her it would not be as strong now. I then brought out my BK2. What took her 10 min to chop halfway through, i chopped completely through in 2 min. Then, i let her chop with my beckers. She LOVED the BK9 & it will probably be her next knife. It is a chopping machine. She is not as vocal as me, but just wanted to let you know that TwinStick Jr is my daughter & hopefully you will see her on here soon.

Then she used the BK9.

She REALLY liked it & said it chopped so much better than her BGUSK, it was unreal.
Another BeckerHead in the making maybe ??? Time will tell.

congratz Twin,
its great you got your daughter into some of the same stuff as you....
i didnt really see eye to eye with my father until...well he was too old to do alot of this stuff with :/

I promise I will start watching my language. :D
Great job on funneling the Kool-Aid to your progeny.

Thats cool,Thae knife may not be that great but at lleast bear is inspiring a younger generation about survival and survival tools and thats cool by me.

The funny thing to me was, first when she bent the tip of the BG knife, but even more so when I brought out most of my other favorite ones. OKC Spec-plus line of SP8 machete, SP10 Marine Raider Bowie, Kukri, then HI Kukri, & I gave her her Cold Steel TrailMaster that i bought for her about 7 years ago (she thought it was mine, but i told her i bought 2-one for her, when they were on sale for $49.00. I had paid $75 for mine the week before & thought i got a steal !) & when she was done chopping with all of them, she thought i had made some good decisions because they all work really well. But the BK9 was her favorite by far i think. She hunts & fishes & loves guns as well. I just hope one day she finds a person who loves the same things as her---that would be awesome !!!

I believe the ratio of male to females with hobbies like hers is in her favor :D Can't wait till she gets posting!

Thats awesome my daughter is 8 and wants me to get her a knife............Soon, very soon...

Twinstick, I've got something for her when she gets her BeckerHead #. I'll be watching closely.

Good stuff TwinStick. Welcome to the forum TwinStick Jr.

My daughter is 9 and just got her first knife last month, a vic classic. her birthday is next month and I will be giving her a engraved Vic either a Cadet or maybe a Tinker.

Welcome Twinstick Jr., that did make me chuckle. Glad to see she's enjoying some steely goodness, and for being a good pop with the eyeprotection. I could learn a thing or two from ya'll.

BH# OF has some thing in mind, I think I do too. I will also be watching closely.

I agree with The Biscuit.

We need to shape up the language and innuendo's a little, been getting a litte loose.

Kids on board.

LOL :D The chips REALLY did'nt start flying until the Beckers came out !!! At least thats the way I saw it !!!

Yes. I forgot to say, i told her to beat the living snot out of it, if it breaks, we will send it back & see if they give her a new one, then sell it & buy a Becker. She pounded a nail into a 2x4 twice with no failure. I thought it was gonna break though. I would NOT baton with it, if you want to keep it in one piece. She now knows that it is no Becker, but she had to learn that for herself. Which is cool by me. I'm pretty thickheaded myself sometimes, at least thats what my wife tells me, LOL.

I am glad to see other parents enjoying their hobbies with their kids. Here is a pic of my 4yr old son with his folding trainer. It doesn't have an edge. Completely rounded edges. I am teaching him proper knife safety and cleaning. He even has a special spot he puts it every night. Right next to his LED headlamp.

Mom and Grandma were on board with it. My wife comes from a HUGE HUNTING family. Right now he uses it to break small twigs for kindling and has, in his eyes, prepared a few dead minnows for the fire.

Good stuff, TwinStick, and welcome Jr. What a thrill to get out there and blast away at some lumber with a bunch of Dad's steel, and thumbs-up on the eye protection.

I got three daughters who just learned they're all getting Remoras. All we talked about all day. Good times :)
