I've been looking for a new knife, and I've found three that I like very much. They are as follows:

Boker Grand Canyon Series Trapper - $36.95
Boker Stockman 3 Blade w/ Smooth Deep Red Bone Handles - $34.95
Boker Tree Brand Candy Stripe -$38.95

I am torn between them, so I am wondering which one you would order out of these three, and why.

I would go with the Grand Canyon Bone Trapper. I have their Copperhead in Grand Canyon Bone. Great knife with a very nice handle material. I'm not a big fan of the Boker red bone (the one I have looks a bit like plastic). The Candy stripe is interesting, just not my cup of tea. I prefer the smaller Copperhead to the larger Trapper model. Knives over 4" don't fit my pocket sheaths very well. You really can't go wrong with any of your choices. Have fun deciding!

I definitely will. I can see how that red bone could seem a bit like plastic, do you have any pics of it?

I bought one of the candy stripe congress patterns and couldn't be happier. Colors are bright and it really get compliments.

I have a trapper with red bone and a stockman very much like the one listed, with red bone and it is one of my favorite knives. I have worn it so much that I dropped it once and I lost the little round symbol. The blades are worn and disclored a bit. I still love it. I seems "just right".

The congress is a interesting alternative. I have a six bladed congress with fake marble very close to that one and I hardly ever use it. Still nice though, heck I like all of my Bokers, but the stockman being the best of them.

My last 3 Bokers have all been great. No issues. The Copperhead is a bit big for me, I have a GCB Whittler that is about right for a med/large knife. The med Stockman would be my next buy in GCB or maybe Wash Board Bone.

I would get the Trapper first and the Stockman a close second. I really like the feel of a trapper in the hand, but the stockman is probably my favorite pattern. I like the looks of that Grand Canyon Bone and can't help but imagine it might be a little better made than the average red bone. I bought a red bone handled Boker stockman recently and I had to send it back for several reasons.
1. the blades had lots of play in them
2. the scales had play in them so the whole knife felt loose
3. the pivot was sticking out of the bolster
and 4. the grinds were not up to my standards for how a knife should be.

Hm, I guess I'll either choose the trapper or the copperhead, then. Still a tough choice. I've also been looking at another knife, but it isn't a slipjoint. Here it is:

I really like the wood on this knife, and the blade profile is also quite nice.

Copperhead I have in Grand Canyon Jigged Bone is a really excellent knife. The scales have a kind of black, purple liquorice hue that gets enhanced after a trip to the Mineral Bath House.Deeply cut too.The fit is fine, blades a bit dull but they soon sharpen up.Just wish they made a Peanut with these scales!

IMHO, a copperhead or stockman is a more generally useful pattern for EDC than a standard trapper. But since none of us ever stops at just one or two slipjoints, it's almost a moot point. ;)

I have been pleased with the quality of the three Boker slipjoints I own: Appaloosa Copperhead, Barlow (under the Russell name) and Congress, all with carbon steel.

I think they produce a good knife at a relatively small price point.

You won't go far wrong with any of the choices.

If that's actual bone, I'd go with the Stockman.

After a month of carrying an old Schrade Uncle Henry 897UH, an old two-spring Buck 301 Stockman, and a newer three-spring Buck 303 Cadet, I have to say I find the Stockman pattern just all kinds of useful.

Not to mention that I kinda have a thing for carbon steel.

And red bone is just purty.

Mine is the jigged bone. The jigging looks too much like a machine produced pattern. The red is so even and bright that it looks like plastic or Delrin instead of a natural material. I'm thinking about taking it to my workbench and changing the handle material like I did on my Steel Warrior Trapper.
