The star in the desert shown big and bright./

For this was the eve of the most fateful nite /

evil abounded but above it all, loomed /

the hope that freedom would triumph and soon./

Away from there familys the jewels of there land/

Protecting the honor and rights of all man/

A thanks to all saviors in the past and now/

from a child in swadling to those in fatigues/

his wonders are worked in mysterious ways./

It never has varied nor will till end of days/

The sacrifice great like a man on a cross,
is a family alone in the name of just cause/

This is a day of rememberence/ not of baubles and toys/
So remember the familys of all those that gave all/ not just for us but at humanitys, call./

The quest for the gift of freedom, some consider a birthright/
is preached an ideal, but never won without fight. /

Its Christmas and I am ashamed for not doing more,, but my heart it is with you,/ and it is without regret that as long as I live I will let no one forget./

To the Men and Women of the ARMED FORCES of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THANKYOU. LT

A very fitting tribute Rich. Thank you. And my personal thanks also to those who made the sacrifice. Those heroes who did not come back, and the ones who did their duty and returned. My thanks to the men on this forum who put themselves in harm's way, and there are more here than will claim that honor, I assure you.

Thanks LT,

I have written elsewhere that we (the rest of the world) are letting the USA fight our wars, The war against communism, terrorism, and dictators is everybody's war, we should be allies and join the USA in these wars, even if we are not as powerful we should help with what we can.

Many people don't see it, but imagine what would have been of Western Europe if the Russians with Stalin had gone further at the end of WW2, what would have happened to South Korea without USA intervention, and to Kuwait. Many think that the USA lost a war in South East Asia but today it could very ugly over there if the USA had not intervened.

We should also consider the aid that the USA gives to other countries even in times of peace and specially in times of trouble.

Thank you USA.

Luis

Thank you LT. I knew you were a world class Schrade collector and an author and authority on knives in general and Switchblades in particular, however I did not know that you were a poet as well. Nice job, Thank you.

Don Luis,
I appreciate your sentiments and especially your observations on Vietnam. There are those who believe the primary reason for the collapse of the Soviet Union was their heavy monetary support of North Vietnam. Because of their great debt from that war they were bankrupted and the union collapsed. Proving, at least to some, that the domino theory also worked in reverse.
It is gratifying to me that someone such as your self, not a resident of the United States, appreciates the contributions of the United States military.
Thank you, Sir!
