Last year I purchased a copy of "Master of the Forge" about Bill Moran and his knives and knew at the time that I wanted to make one of these. This is my first Moran style knife that I've made. I'm not sure why I picked the cinquedea style other than it presented me with a challenge as some of the forging techniques required were new to me. Though it isn't an exact copy of any of Moran's cinquedeas, it was definitely in his style of them. After a recent thread on copying the work of others, I was a little reluctant to post this but I don't think that Bill would have minded my copying his style.
Moran stated that in his opinion the cinquedea was the most difficult style of dagger to build and I now know why.
This one has a blade of W1 steel with rosewood scales and brass furniture.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Gary
