Here is a classic coffin handled Satan's lace Helle's Belle with steel hardware and looks like a Blackwood coffin handle

This one is going to some lucky new owner Bill was kind enough to send me pics before it went out

This piece exemplifies what we were talking about in the other Bagwell thread ..... A perfect HB

Oh, very nice! I would love the opportunity to handle a Bagwell! Maybe one day!

Joe, I think you may have been mentioned in the other thread, at the risk of repeating I noticed on this piece the offset coffin handle, most noticable in the second photo. Is that typical of the Coffin handled HB?

Interesting!

Yes Bill puts a curve to the Coffin just ever so slightly to facilitate a good saber grip

I have that same bowie except mine has the spanish notch. The coffin handle has a perfect feel.

Indeed.

You had to post that one, didnt you...!

Cruel and unusual punishment....considering I dont own one.

I want a Bagwell Bowie...bad......!

Do you have any details on the damascus, Joe? It is quite unique.

Hi Shawn

Bill has and can do any type of Damascus & Wootz but he really likes the merits of cable Damascus

I do to :) my first experience with it was about 20 years ago. Michael Bell made me a Katana and a Waki out of cable and than clay tempered them

They look wild and I agree with Bill and Michael on the performance characteristics of Cable done right

Examples

One of my favorite Bowies of all time

Bagwell Alamo

The pattern is like the blades on fire

One of the first if not the first all Damascus Stag handled Bell's

IMHO the best one ever :)

I will dig the Wak out

It has not been out of a sword bag for many years. I owe it some good pics and a thread :)

Thank you for the detailed explanation, Joe! As a stock-removal maker I increasingly find myself researching forges, hydraulic presses, pattern-weilding techniques, and the like . . .

Those are great! I love how the pattern seems to chase the blade. Your Bell sword is something to behold.

This is mine.

It is a beauty. And I am very, very happy I've got this one.

Thank you all for the kind words. :)
My best regards.
