I was going to send my MT-L to be coated with the chromiun and boron carbide coating that Bodykote offfers. I was wondering if this would void the warrenty and if I needed to do it through Strider. I have had the Boron Carbide coating on several Microtechs and have been pleased with the way it wears.

What is your opinion on the coating?

Zach

Thanks for the reply. He had mentioned something about you guys doing some testing on it in a thread last year. I also noticed some coatings on the knife pictures on your site.

I really love my MT-L. It has got me hooked. I have an AR on order at TAD. I hope it comes in soon I am starting to get a twitch. :D I am also planning on an MH, GS, and a custom.

Thanks for making such great tools. I have started to sell my other knives to pay for my new Strider habit.

Mr. Zach,
Ask for a third step as well.
1st Chrome layer (evaporated chromium)
2nd Boron Carbide
3rd Tec12 (chemically formulated chromium oxide)

Good luck,

Wow.
This sounds like a great addition to Cr and BC (especially for a carbon blade).
Got plans for a big honking 3V hacker one of these days, and that sounds like it would kill all corrosion concerns except at the edge.

Duane,
Does it affect the appearance of the BC finish? Just curious.

Thank you both for the reply. I will add Tec12 to the list when I send it to bodykote.

I love the D-9 that TAD and Bladeart have goten
in the past. Very cool. I am partial to bowies.

A friend of mine made me this one. It is 8 inches long with a sharpened false edge. It is going to Bodykote for the same coatings as the MT-L.
