I don't know how you guys that live in places that stay below zero do it. Today was cold enough for me. 24F but with the wind chill about 8F:grumpy:

Made the up hill hike along a frozen creek interesting though.. One minute your freezing the next minute your sweating. However it was a nice sunny day, visibilty was great, and it was nice to build a purposeful fire. Thats one of the reasons I like the winter. I didn't take alot of pics, so sorry. I wasn't even gonna post as Marcelo and I hike once a week and never post pics, but this time we found some interesting tracks. We believe them to be Bobcat, but we are not trackers. So I thought we'd see what you all thought.

I love hiking with snow on the ground cause of all the tracks the animals leave behind. We saw plenty of dear, racoon, possum, squirrell, etc

But here are the tracks of question.

And here are a few misc pics.

Very likely bobcat.

In particular look at how the lobes skew towards the right of the toes in the photographed paw. Also the lack of nail prints and the u shape at the top of the lobe. I'm no expert but thats what I would go with - bobcat

Yeah I'd say definitely Bob cat tracks there buddy !

Great pics, nice hiking old real cold days eh !!!

Looks like bobcat tracks to me.

Winter is the best time of year to hike. If you dress right, you won't sweat yourself to death. No bugs. The undergrowth all dies, so you can hike almost anywhere you want. Snow is cool, and very pretty if you ask me.

In fact, I like winter so much I camped last night! 15F low, not too bad.

If I can paraphrase Tony's line, I don't know how you guys who live in the snow do it.

Right now our local mountains are having a high in the sixties, and it's a great time to be hiking there. Even better, the desert is down to the seventies, so it's a great time to be hiking there, too. Trust me, you wouldn't want to hike there in the summer, but right now is just right. All of which ticks me off, since I can't get to any of them at the moment: truck's broken.

Back on topic: nice pics, Tony. I'd be happy to hike there — even with the snow — if I could just get out.

Love the hardwood forest do not see any of that here Glad you had a nice day and thanks for posting nice to see different parts of the country

I wish we had more time today. The view from the top of the ridge we climbed was spectacular. As alwayy I'm the lame-o that doesn't shoot any pics.

We had a cool time scrambling down from the top of what took us a good forty minutes to climb, in about six minutes, all Grylls style ;)

I've never actually seen bobcat tracks, so I googled it ... looks about right.
