A collectors swap thread?

Hello- I started a thread in the schrade collectors forum and they told me to try here. It has been talked about several times in the schrade area having a continuous sticky thread there where we could do some swapping. And I thought maybe we could also include say camillus and the other collectors knives and not necessairly exclude say other knives from being brough into trades but the Idea would be this... Its getting hard to come across schrades and soon enough camillus knives so this gives some of the people with a stockpile of no longer produced knives to trade them to the guys that might need some of them for there collection etc. I wouldnt even mean it has to only be thoes knives, example if im trading a schrade someone could still offer me a case or some other brand of knife for it but the idea would be basically the collectors knives( no longer in production). just wanted to run it by you guys and beg!!!! please!!!. And ive tried the regular sticky in traditional folders and fixed blades but it just dosent get the schrade traffic I would hope. And I think one avilable in the collectors area would go over awesome.- Joel sandeno
 
We already have a sub-forum of For Sale: Production Knives (Individual) for Busse only, and another one for Buck only. A while ago there was talk of creating one for Schrade, but people didn't seem to have a clear consensus whether they wanted one for Schrade only, or for Schrade & Camillus, or for Schrade & Camillus & even more manufacturers, or whether they really wanted to be off in a sub-forum by themselves or would rather go on using For Sale: Production Knives (Individual).

If people can make up their minds and come to agreement on what they want and there are a sufficient number of people who will participate to make a new sub-forum viable, that could happen.
 
I'd vote for a swap thread in the Schrade Forum. It would not matter to me if Camillus knives were allowed on either side of the swap. The Schrade family includes Ulsters and Imperial knives as well. I think what Joel was proposing is a swap thread that would gain the attention of Schrade forum participants.

I won't try and speak for anyone else, but I would not split hairs regarding knife brands. I realize some kind of legislation might help keep spammers at bay, or make it a little easier to moderate. I watch the one over in the Traditional Forum, and it seems to run pretty well without many issues.
 
Cougar it seems to be the general consensus that every one is pretty open about it they just want it to happen one way or another. Basically we were hoping to have a trading thread open to... Schrade and all of its cousins and Camillus and all of its cousins! codger is compiling a list of what that would be if you need that.- Joel
 
So where are at with this? I'm all for a Schrade Imperial / Camillus and family for sale or trade type sub-forum. I think the interest in both brands is growing and will continue to grow as more unsuspecting buyers get duped buy the imports. Even if it's on a trial basis, it may attract a lot of members to upgrade their memberships just to sell some those Old Timers or Uncle Henry's that are just sitting around collecting dust. And then there is the question of whether it would be for sale only, for trade only, or both?
What about a poll in both forums to get some added input? How does one start a poll anyway, do you have to be platinum for that? I think just about everybody in the Schrade forum has come out in favor of it.
I agree with most of the opinions stated above but I'd like to see the same rules apply as in the other for sale forums, maybe we could even get Glockman99 to come on over and keep things in line.
Maybe? If we all said " Pretty Please Can We"?
 
Once again, if anything happens here it will be a sub-forum to For Sale: Production Knives (Individual). There will be a link to it in the Schrade and/or Camillus forums, but the sub-forum will be in the Exchange under For Sale: Production Knives (Individual) with the same moderators as For Sale: Production Knives (Individual) and the same rules except it will be restricted to whatever brands you decide you want it to be restricted to. Look at the Busse and Buck sub-forums to see what it will be like.

You will have to decide what brands the sub-forum will be restricted to, and then you will have to show Spark there are enough people who will participate to make the forum viable. If I recall correctly last time Spark asked for 40 people who are Gold Members or above to say they would participate, and that worked out well -- those sub-forums did turn out to be viable.
 
Ok cougar is there any direction you can point me in. Im more than willing to help and do whatever it takes to help get this thing rolling. Should I start a thread in schrade and camillus looking for gold members willing to give a for sure vote that they would participate. - Joel
 
As far as brands, I would like to see all of the different names that were produced by Schrade and Camillus, whether it's Becker, Frontier,Western or whatever even if someone wants to sell the "new schrade" they don't like.
