Anyway,

Nothing too special, but this is the largest sheath I have made to date, and since it is for my brother's wilderness chopper, I thought I would show it off here....

Let me know what you think....

Nice clean looking work there mate.

Is all the kydex around the index finger area needed? I'd be tempted to remove a little to ease taking the knife in and out.

Very true, I will let my brother play with it, and then if he wants less retention, I will cut it down.

And thank you for the kind words, both of you.

NIce work! Looks a lot like one I had Robert H make for me from Survival Sheath Systems for my RTAK II.

I am a huge fan of his work, and his style, I did not learn the process from him, but my work is very informed by his style and design sense.

Very nice job, M.

One thing I would like to see on all kydex is a thumb rest, where you can apply pressure to aid in the removal of the knife - something like the R.A.T. kydex, which I love. Also a sheath I have by Eric (OST) works that way, the Bark Rivers, not so much.

Yeah, I have yet to figure out how to do a thumb break that I like.

wow.. nice work... i love the o.d. green concealex and kydex...:)

I know, I am working on a sheath for a TAK right now for a buddy of mine, a real good friend.

I took this sheath over to him, and showed it off, and the first thing he said was "Now why do you have to go and show me this, you know I love OD Green and Kydex, this is not fair."

Marion, I need to enlist you assistance that sheath looks great! I have an original Livesay RTAK and Newt's sheaths were very thin kydex and it's now cracked pretty bad. I've been wanting to get a new sheath made, let me know if you'd be interested in helping out;) Most of my toys are boxed and loaded up for our move the GA, so it'll be a while before we get moved, settled and unpacked.

I just finished this sheath for a friend.

I still have to find out how my friend wants to carry it, so no holes have been drilled, but once I know, I will add the appropriate.

Thanks for looking,

beautiful work, brother.

question:

is there some reason you don't round the tip end of the sheath?

it looks beautiful the way it is, but any time i can do away with a corner, i try to do so.

TIA.

I like the rivets on both sides of the blades like that. I provides a great deal of options for lashings and also enables the paracord belt loops. Looks good to me!

For some reason, I tend to like the squared angles on kydex....looks more 'tactical' i guess, lol. Just my .02.

i was just wondering but i actually have and rtak 2 is there a way you could make a piggyback system for that and an nwa scout? could you please email when you get a chance usmcsniper34@yahoo.com for all the details your work looks superb thanks

Well, round is definitely more comfortable, no question. And the corners are rounded at a sort of 'micro' level. But, I think the squared looks a bit more striking, and honestly, a bit easier to lay out and grind in, with round shapes, it can start to look sort of bulbous, which is no bueno. Though, if a guy wants it rounded, I am all about the custom product, no problem.

Thanks kgd. Me too, I used to like the fold over sheath, but I find that I can control the product a good bit more with the double line of rivets, and you get so many attachments options, like you say.

It does at that, I think. Thanks!

Thank you for the compliment of considering my work for your knives. You have email.

Here's a pic of the one I had made from Robert H @ Survival Sheaths. Just my cents, but the Rtak carries well on a thigh rig (that's what this one goes onto - I took the webbing off for the picture.).
