A Cooper khukuri

"Cooper khukuri" a wonderful sound.

Say it over a few times. Sounds like the call of some exotic jungle bird!

Certainly custom knife quality is readily apparent, but the curves are perhaps too leaf like (?) in their aspect....Oh Hell, they just jar me a little from what I am used to. What say you; Am I too pickey???

JNC was a crusty ole' guy who made a pretty good living making knives he personally hated - or so he told me once.

Like many of his knives, I do not like the lines of this one (and the final price    ).

Scagel -- now there was an artist. Can't afford him either. When he was " affordable," I was broke. Now ................

I first read it as a 'copper kukri' .... :D

The lines on it seem a little off, but the handle looks comfortable, although maybe not for swinging / chopping. But I suppose at that price you're probably not going to be using it for kindling.

It is no stranger than the Foxy Folly or the UBE...

The fit and finish are excellent, and the shape of the blade itself is O.K, I guess… I don’t like the grind, the handle, and his interpretation of a cho. :thumbdn: It would be so much better if he made a true interpretation or reproduction of a khukuri. Most knifemaker’s efforts unfortunately fall short, including Mr. Cooper’s, IMO.

From this website, http://people.consolidated.net/keen/ the following information is given about his khukuri: KUKRI $1,200.00 A reproduction of the fighting knife of the Nepal tribe of India. Length: 15.5" Blade: 10.5 to 12"

I would swear this same knife came up about a year ago in a thread. It was for sale then as well...

thanks for the link, DrDan.

Very interesting....
