Had to follow my buddy mistwalker's post but without the great story or good quality photos. Sometimes a business trip has its perks.

Cades Cover in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Had to stop by the candy store. Had to go out to my car to get my Bushboot for show and tell in the store. I belive we may have a shark coming to the waters.

A few sweets I picked up

Finished the night off with a good steak and cold beer at Texas Roadhouse in Gatlinburg

nice Bob

kylie loved it when we went by SMKW on our Honeymoon... ask her about it sometime:eek:

That looks like a great time Bob.

Not honeymoon great though...

Very nice and thanks for sharing the great pics. Made my morning.:D

Very nice post Bob! The Bushboot can be at home anywhere ;) I really like Cades Cove, hopefully next time I am there it won't involve a truck search or explaining an antique 9mm, four tactical tomahawks, 6 tactical knives, a few bushcraft knives, and twelve ziplok bags of organic matter... Yep, fun times that....

i dunno Bob, your pics look pretty good to me. nice ones. thanks for sharing.

and that SMKW store is something. i had the pleasure of stopping there last year on the way back from the becker gathering. can lose a loooot of time in there.

Phillip, perhaps this is what you are talking about? did you spend your entire honeymoon there?? ;) :D

When my boys were younger and the weekends would roll around I'd tell the wife to do whatever she wanted on saturday and I'd take care of the kids. We'd drive over to SMKW and spend hours checking everything out then grab a good meal on the way back.

Of course now that they're in college they want to go to Bass Pro and check out the guns and fishing gear.

if it were up to me i would have

i am typically met with this response when i start talking about knives....

Wish I knew you were in the neighborhood Bob. I just spent the last 4 days in Gatlinburge and we hit the Cove several times a year. It has some decent trails and great chances at seeing wildlife up close.

Oh, and I carried one of my Bushboots the entire time up there.

I'll let you know when I'm out that way again

As much as I like the Bushboot, I enjoy these photos of the Smokies much more. I spent several years tramping around the Smokies while in school in the Eastern NC region, and the mountains of the area are in my top places that I have ever experienced. Thanks for the pics.

How is Gatlinburg after the fires? Love that little town, it has been way too long since I have visited the area.

The handle on this thing is sweet! Cork and micarta? Looks like a great filet knife.

Awesome post! Thanks for sharing.

The micarta protects the cork. This thing is so light it'll just about float in air.

I drug my wife there while on our honeymoon, as well. She was... uncomfortable. The Lodge Store across the parking lot helped me out a ton.

Really great pictures and recap, Bmurray!

I especially like this picture:

(Even if it is a, well, you know. ;))

We had one of our best, last whole-family vacations in Gatlinburg a while back now, meeting with friends for a board gaming convention (of all things). While there, I visited Cade's Cove, took a horseback ride in the forest, and fell into my lifetime guitar at Music Outlet in Sevierville. In other words, we made incredibly powerful memories that have only grown sweeter with time.

In which to say, I read about the area fire(s) with horror and great sadness for the devastation suffered, and am grateful for all indications of the area's resilience, rebuilding, and ongoing busy-ness.

:)
