Hello ,I just my second Emerson a used 07,CQC-7B with a silver combo edge blade and no wave. The wave on my first Emerson a Commander tried to neuter me so I wanted the next one waveless.

It does not say what steel the CQC-7B is on the blade? The commander was
154 so I am wondering what this knife is?

Also the tiniest piece of the tip right on the edge is broken off.
Can I send it to Emerson and get it reground?

If not maybe I should let Tom Krien take a shot at it?

Also what is the best way to sharpen this type of straight chisel edged blade?

Thanks guys ,the CQC-7B is a cool knife. It is almost every single feature I don't like in one knife but for some reason all those things work together perfectly to make a cool blade. I don't like liner locks ,combo edges ,American tantos or chisel grinds but for some reason it just works.

Partly I think it is because this is the original tactical folder in this style.

it is 154cm.

yes.

yes. either will fix the tip, tk will likely grind a better edge for you.

just like you would any other edge. i use a sharpmaker or edge pro.

you could send it to EKI for sharpening but if it was me i would send it to krien. it would be a LOT sharper from krein vs from EKI, but either would work.

for sharpening tips go to the EKI website and check out the tutorial they have, i use a norton india stone and a piece of cardboard (or a steel) myself, imho the angles on the sharpmaker arent right and its easier to just do it freehand vs trying to get the angle right on a SM, YMMV though,

I tend to use the sharpmaker rods I just take them out of the base first. If I were you I would send it to Tom Krein. I had an M2 Ritter grip that he had worked on and it was fantastic. Either way congratulations and enjoy.

Congrats! You have the folder that started it all... a true Renegade!
Tom Krein that blade and then you will have semi-custom. ;)

Thanks a lot guys great advice for a great knife. I think i will take a shot at it myself and if I screw it up or am not happy with it i will send it for a Krein edge.

Another thing i like about Ernie is his writing about MBC. It is very practical and matches up with what i have learned.

What's a Krein edge? I have a CQC7 that I got back in '95 or whenever it was they first came out, and it's a royal PITA to sharpen.

The Sharpest knife you'll own, is a Krein edge. Google, Krein Knives and Email him. Tell tom, I sent you. ;)

Tell tom, I sent you. ;)

Dont tell Tom that :eek::p

Tom K. is a regrind master, he does really really good things to knives
