Hey everybody.
i honestly have not made a knife start to finish in about a year. But i have a friend who works at Southern States feed and seed and is in charge of this "hunter's night out" and she got me a table for my knives.. the problem was.. i didn't have anything to take other than my portfolio. soo.... i decided to make some simple knives that would appeal to hunters hands and wallets. No fancy grinds.. no hand finishing, with robust handles and blade materials. so.. 1095 and 5160 with micarta handles.
here is what i started out with:
i cannot take any credit for the design of the skinner. it is a blatant copy Ben Tendick's design, though he does a much better job of executing it than me. i just used the design. his work is here:

did some hollow grinding. i think it turned out real pretty.
the 1095 stuff came out with pretty hamons so i reniged on my "no hand finishing" policy... i just couldnt resist. took it to 600 on the grinder and finished it to 800 by hand. this is the first time my plunges have come out half decent. i am most happy about that.
here are the blades with the micarta... ready for shaping
and here they are... almost done. Pardon the pink towel. we got them as wedding presents but were so hideous they became "outside" towels.
i will do all the finishing this afternoon and try to make some kydex sheaths for the little ones. and take some better pictures.
i would appreciate your input.
i also finished up another friction folder for a customer
thanks for looking!
