I picked these up from Ray on Tuesday along with some others. I had been wanting a Wharncliffe for a while, but it had just never worked out. I saw a couple on Ray's bench about a month ago and thought they were spoken for...well it turns out it was spoken for:D

I'm with freekboi, that wharnie is killer!
Nice score, Durwood!

Just wonderful! Terrific bone and jigging. Congratulations on your fortunate acquisition. What size are they? Are they ATS34? As long as I'm asking so many questions, Can I have the wharncliffe, please. :D

I'm gonna go against the tide - I'm partial to the skinner. Not that I would turn down either one!

Very nice! That's the kind of stuff I'm looking for at the Blade show...:D

Both those knives are gorgeous Durwood, thanks for showing them, and Congrat's on your new warny.

Do you know what it is called when a little cutout is provided on the handle to allow easy access to a pull, like on the Wharny?

What...no guesses? Anybody?

Those are beautiful knives Durwood. I really like the Notch Hollow for easy access to the nick on the wharny blade..

Hey s-k, that's a dandy name for that little divot in the handle. The way I understand it, when there is a small notch to provide easy access to a nail pull, it is said that the handle is eased.

Which made me think of something for our illustrious mods to consider. Would it be a good idea to have a sticky titled "Glossary of terminology and historical references" or some such thing like that? It would be a great thing that could be built upon and could become quite useful.

Kerry,
That's a really great idea.

That is a good idea. I know there's some knife terminology out there that when I see it in a post it leaves me scratching my head.

The inclusion of a notch hollow eased the opening of that fine looking knife. Notch Hollow is a tradtional term for the little 'divot' in the handle that allows clear access to the nail nick. Great idea re the glossary sticky.

Well, I don't know where the illustrious mods are hiding, but I'll be glad to make it a sticky once you get 'er going.

So, Kerry, start it up as you deserve to have pride of place as the first post.

Yeah:thumbup:

What do we want to call it? What do we want it to look like? Who will maintain it? Should it be a simple alpha-numeric listing of words and phrases. So many questions? Am I panicking...NO..YES...NO. :D
