I'm heading out for Maryland Tuesday for the Moran Blade Forging & Knife Exposition. I'm taking a couple along with me that are new models.

Actually they are still in the prototype stage and don't even have official names yet. Anyway, I thought I'd go ahead and show them.

This one's from a few requests for a larger hunter / utility. For the time being it's called the Grande Hunter. That's a name Les Robertson came up with.

It's a spear-point utilty / hunter with a 5 1/2" blade, forged from 1084. The handle is Ring Gidgee sent to me by Steve Filicietti. The hardware is 416 stainless steel.

Another that I'll have with me is a smaller, bird & trout or small game job.

This one has a 3 7/8" blade with a slightly upswept blade. It's forged from 1084. The handle is Snakewood sent to me by Danbo. The hardware is 416 stainless steel.

I'll also have a mini-Montero and special Platypus with a touch of functional filework, Nickel Silver hardware, and some presentation grade Arizona Desert Ironwood. Well, actually I should say I "plan" to have the Platypus with me. I'm busting it right now trying to get it ready.

Very nice. The small game knife looks very useful even for us city folk. The hunter's 5.5" blade is slightly longer than I prefer, but it sure looks great.

Like 'em both Terry. I agree with Keith - that little one looks like a very useful knife even beyond the field and stream. Cool looking snakewood too (where does Danbo get all this stuff?).

Cheers,

Roger

Both are visually appealing. I am sure they work well for their designed purposes.

Those look great, Terry. Clean work and they look functional too. I especially like that bird and trout - its sharp point and shallow belly will work great for those small jobs, from fileting a brookie to carving a partridge breast.

 Holy Canoly! Those are shweeeet!

Umm, Terry? You were supposed to make ME a knife with those snakewood slabs! ;) :D (just kiddin; those slabs were a gift to Terry)

Thanks guys.

Pam, I'll see you there. I think we'll be there Wednesday late afternoon / evening. We'll have to get everything unloaded and ready for the cutting competition on Thursday I imagine.

Shoot, I'm still getting ready and loading stuff up in the truck. I have to get up in 3 1/2 hours (assusming I get to bed at all), and head out for Fisk's place. Then it's on to Maryland. :o z-z-z-z
