Hey There,

I have been making and selling some custom composite materials, and recently I had an order for some carbon fiber with a few texalium layers (aluminized fiberglass) in it for a bit of contrast.

There was a bit of leftovers, so made up new scales for a Subcom and a Trance:

The Trance also has some "glopoxy" in the holes on the clip side. (sorry no glowing pics :o )

Great idea on the glopoxy and the scales are very nice. Makes me want to work over my Trance.

That glopoxy would be handy on a lot of my hiking gear-- who makes it?

I do.:)

Pretty simple DIY:

Mix up your epoxy, and mix in glow powder and fill in what needs fillin' in...

Some companys also make paint with the glow powder in it. It works well for some applications.

Thanks!

Beautfiul work ... I bet those handles glow in the sunshine. :)

Thanks, I'm very pleased with how they came out, a nice improvement over the factory scales, IMO.

The carbon fiber has that really neat, 3D holograhic look to them.

BTW, I listed them FS elsewhere, the trance went quick, and I'll list the subcom at BF if it does not move soon...

Aloha Shadetree Phenolics,

Wow...very nice work! Interesting tip on the glopoxy...I been trying to look for that stuff here in primitive Hilo!;)

God bless and mahalo for sharing!

Those are real classy! Yet with that glow you put on it it seems to have real pracital side. Great work!

That looks very cool.:)

I have thought of buying those two models. I'm not sure, because I can't tell how thick the handle are.

How thick is the handle on those before modification?

The Subcom is 1/4" thick (minus pocket clip), and the Trance isaround 5/16" (measured the same way).

Howzit G. Scott H.,

Thanks for having my back on this one!;) Man, was that by memory or...:D

God bless and mahalo much!
I'm always there for ya, bro.:D Actually, In the interest of complete accuracy, I mismeasured (is that a word?) the Trance. It's actually closer to 9/32" than 5/16". I was off by a whopping 1/32"!:cool:
