I was impressed with the Joker Ember, so I ordered a few more of their models. These are the Nomad and the Erizo.

The Nomad is a beast of a knife. 5 inch blade. 5mm thick. Nice walnut scales with a nice feeling palm swell. Black liners. The steel in Bohler N695, that I've read is about like 440C. Very well made leather sheath.

The Erizo is a little brute of a knife. 2.95 inch blade. 4mm thick. Micarta scales with red liners. Same steel, Bohler N695. Also has a nice leather sheath.

The prices on Joker knives are super reasonable. Not the latest super steel, but if they are like 440C, I have used that steel for decades and had good results. Maybe someone knows more about N695. But for the price, I don't think you can go wrong.

They are raising up their game I see, before I only remember them using 440A and 420HC analogs and even those were very good quality.

Good for Joker.

I’ve been considering getting the Ember myself,I can’t remember if the Ember I was looking as was in N690 or 14C28N.while these aren’t “super steels”,I’m a big fan of both of these steels, they are really well balanced blade steels.they have a great resistance to corrosion, they are pretty tough, they have pretty decent edge retention and the fact they are easy to sharpen is just icing on the cake.I love my Bark River,LT Wright and Battle Horse knives which are in 3V,Cruwear and A2 but when I’m going on a camping trip,a lot of times I leave the 3V and Cruwear knives behind and bring one of my knives in 1095,5160,SK5/SK85,VG-10,N690,14C28N,etc for the ease of sharpening in the field...I personally have no experience with N695 but I’d imagine it is a lot like N690,and that definitely isn’t a bad thing.with all that being said,I’ve heard a lot of great things about Joker knives but I still haven’t got around to ordering one yet.Ive been waiting for Condor to release the “Aqualore” which is an upgraded version of the Bushlore with blue micarta scales,14C28N blade steel and a kydex sheath..unfortunately,I’m left handed so when I buy new fixed blades,I often have to factor in the additional price of a new left handed or ambidextrous sheath.I usually prefer a good leather sheath but knives that come with a kydex or kydex-like sheath are a huge plus, they’re much more appealing to me because most are ambidextrous. Its so disappointing to get a nice new knife with a great leather sheath that is virtually useless to me

The Ember is a great knife. I've got the Scandi grind and the flat grind. I'll be getting more of their knives. I suppose eventually I will get one that's not so perfect. But so far they have all been very well made.

Same here. I am considering grabbing a fifth one. They fit in my hand quite well, and the sheath is well made.

Feels great. Nice palm swell. I suppose they might seem large to some people. I have L glove sized hands.

How does the handle feel? They always look thick in pictures.
I've never had one where I didn't like the handle ergonomics but I do have large hands. Typically, it's undesirable for fixed blades to have flatter handles, because those are harder on your hands if you're working with a knife and transmit less shock to your hand when you chop with them. It can be harder these days with some brands to get your mitts on a knife to see how it feels, but I value knife handle ergonomics as much as the steel. If a knife is uncomfortable in my hand I'm not going to use it and it's very likely to get re-homed sooner than later.

Another one came today. It's a Bushcrafter. 4.13 inch. Bohler N695. 3.7mm thick blade. Gray micarta scales. Red liners. Super sharp just like the others. Close inspection reveals nothing to fault. Once again, a lot of knife for the money.

This one is the Ursus. 3.94 inch blade. Bohler N695 steel. Green canvas micarta scales. Firestarter rod.

Joker seems to make great knives. Each one I have gotten is great, with zero QC flaws. I own six of them. And I'll eventually add a couple more.
