This one is for a friend of mine from another forum.
His words:

"I wanted a hunting/bushcraft setup that in combination with my Leatherman would cover me both in the field and at the killsite, and this is what we came up with. "

Another one was for another friend but I also made one for myself. :D
I don't often get to make my own stuff and this has been sorely needed for a long time.

I really dislike the BRKT sheath for the Golok on the belt. Maybe it's because of the little extra I have around the middle :p but it's really not comfortable. A shoulder rig is ideal for ease of throwing it on and heading out into the yard.

I sent all these pics to as instructions on attaching it. The lacing idea was the toughest part to imagine but it works really well.

Thanks. Just for clarity, the Golok sheath isn't mine, it's the one that comes with BRKT knives, I just made the shoulder rig.

Not to swell your head or anything, but I was more impressed with the shoulder rig than the sheath on the second one.

Well, that explains it! I was wondering why the shoulder rig appeared to be better quality and better leather than the sheath it carries.....and now i know.

More great work Stuart!

If you've got time in the schedule I have a couple to send your way.

Very ingenious - both rigs. As usual, you do great work. Been meaning to ask you - what kind of thread do you use on these kinds of sheaths??

Regards,
Jacque

p.s. - hope things are going better around your house.

I agree, Paul. Hand sewn vs. machine is obvious when you know what to look for.

Thanks Jacque. I've been using the Tandy waxed Linen thread and for the brown and black thread it's fine but I've been very disappointed with the natural stuff. The action of sewing seems to fray it and using an overstitch wheel seems to turn it into mush. I really am finding the look unsightly and rough looking. After looking at a few of Gary Graley's sheaths I am going to hunt down some waxed poly thread. It just is a much cleaner look.

Interesting - many years ago I bought some unwaxed linen from Tandy (they don't carry it any more) because I didn't like the natural waxed. I'm about to run out and found some Barbours unwaxed linen 5 Cord, Left Twist at an old company in south Texas. I like the unwaxed because I can dye it any color I want before waxing it myself.

Ha Ha.... That's so exotic sounding...You gotta love the US of A... up here I can basically get what Tandy has. And even then it's mail order.

You know anything about that "Tejas" stuff?
