It is jute wrapped and soaked in West Systems 105/207 epoxy. The outside fibres may get a little fuzzy but its on there for life. You would have to chisel it off in chunks. Think of it as "wrapped burlap micarta".

It looks awesome. Once I get some money together I want to get that Bushchipper from you with that type of handle.

You are really turning out some great work, Rick.

Those are nice knives. Is that typical of your style, or is it something different you're doing?

That's pretty much my style in a nutshell, Smitty. At first glance I want it to look like you just pulled it out of your Great Granpappy's footlocker... but after closer examination you notice influences that span many different cultures and periods. (or atleast thats what I'm shootin' for.)

For instance, this recent piece... The Slimmoro. At first it looks like a typical 18th century longhunter's knife. But the shape is borrowed from the "Moro" barong. I think the jute wrap give it a sort of Native American "flint knife" look and the handle wood and peened pins have an early frontier butcher's blade appearence. That is all based on my own opinions, of course. (however uneducated they may be... lol)
