This is a 16.5 inch, 1.75 pound, Chiruwa Ang Khola made and marked by Kesar. Finish is quite good and hardness is about 59 Rc in the chopping area. Karda and chakma are good and so is scabbard and frog.

So, what's wrong with this rig? Poor fit. The buffalo slabs have shrunk a little leaving the tang sticking out from .005 to .015 more than it should. There are two ways to fix this problem. Grind the tang down flush with the slabs or do some epoxy fill. The bolster on the pictured model is loose and needs epoxy, too.

The good news is 50 cents worth of epoxy will turn this blem into a khukuri that will last for 100 years. And the better new is you can have it delivered to your door for $85, a savings of $50.

I have another just like the one pictured but the bolster is solid on this one so there are two available.

Call or email if interested.

Khukuri FAQ

Perhaps, if someone living in a humid climate purchases this knife, the handle will swell back up again on its own.

A little file work and someone will have a great khukuri that will last 10 lifetimes.
I would say it is the perfect hardness as well, but it would have to be a couple of points harder for it to be that way for me. I figure my 18" AK is about 61 Rc, perhaps even 62 Rc. I consider that to be the best knife in the world!!

I like my blades on the hard side even though that can be a liability when chopping with a twisting motion. A thinner blade can chp out when doing that on exceptionaly hard wood like Blackjack Oak.
A person just has to know thier knive's.
You have been putting up some great bargains Bro.!!!

Khukuri FAQ

Both gone.

Yvsa, we have been getting in some blades I think may be in the 61 to 62 range. My old test file runs across the blade like it was glass. The problem is it won't tell me the difference between 60 and 62.
