Just to toss this out..
I got a deal on two dozen of the new X-Timer folders and have been giving them away to friends, co-workers and family. What a great knife, and the retail price (as low as $23.00 on sale at Wal-Mart) makes it a bargain as a hard-user blade. Everyone likes the 'disc' opener much better than the little thumb studs other makers use. Solid lockup (sooo much better than liner/frame locks) and great blade grind, IMHO.
Also, I bought a bunch of little Simons, the SS-1,at the price of 9 bucks each, and those too are being given away. I'll be at work or somewhere, snatch it off my belt loop to cut something and hand it to the person admiring it. Everyone likes it. I bought all 'silver' ones, and note they are also being marketed in several camo patterns. Trust me, as I hunter I can assure you, a camo knife is a very, very bad idea. The woods are littered with them (same same for camo mini maglites).
I love the old, traditional patterns, but it's obviously necessary for Schrade to keep pace with other makers in the high-tech department.
Great to see activity here in the Schrade forum.
