I picked these up at Don's shop yesterday and had a great visit as well. Both have Amber Bone scales and are perfect in every way in my opinion:thumbup: The blades are perfectly centered on both, super nail nicks (something very few guys can seem to do), and perfect backspring tension. In other words, everything that makes a great slipjoint. I wish I could take a picture that would do them justice...but this will give you an idea.

Here's the picture Don sent me to let me know they were ready and probably does a better job of capturing the color of the bone:

Sweet, thanks for sharing. :)
I really like Don's slipjoints, very elegant and not overdone IMO

Porter, a character who worked for my grandfather for several decades, always used 'two of a pair' to describe people and various things. I would say Porter would use that here. A great pair of Don's slips. I was able to handle these at Don's shop last week. They are indeed perfectly paired and made.

Thanks for posting your new duo, Durwood.

Your photo is clear. (Look at the difference in texture/shapes that changing the angle of lighting makes. Learn. )

Congrats on such a score and visit!

Durwood, I enjoyed your visit the other day and glad you like the slips. Thanks!

Coop, it is interesting looking at the different angles of the two shots.

Congratulatins, beautiful knives. I've got one of these and it is one of my favorites. Besides Don is a nice guy which makes
the knife all the better!

Don loves this style, and it shows in this pair.

Those have to be two of the most perfect jigged/dyed bone handles I have ever seen. Great score Durwood, and great slippies Don!

Personally, I don't think ANYBODY does a long slim trapper like Don Hanson does.

Those are sweet!

Hmmm, these don't seem so special to me.
They are only about the same quality of the rest of Don's knives..........:D

OUTSTANDING.

Those are great looking slips..I agree with everyone, Don's look like they stack up with the best. What is the size one this model?

jivedaddy, my tape puts the closed length at 4 1/8" and open at 7 5/8". Another thing I love about these besides the awesome fit and finish is the weight itself, they just feel right:thumbup: Some custom slipjoints are a little on the heavy side to me, these are not.
