These are two of the knives Don Hanson is planning to bring to the St. Louis knife show this coming weekend. I wish I could afford the big one, but will have to "Settle" for the smaller bowie with the walnut handle. ;) :)

Here's the specs:

The smaller bowie has a 7" blade of forged 1086 with a stainless oval guard, ivory micarta spacer and a killer block of stabilized walnut.

The big one has a forged 1086 blade that is just under 13" long, with damascus fittings and one hell of a sweet piece of amber stag for the handle. This one gets multiple

Don, I gotta add this personal comment. That big bowie has a style that, IMHO, is maybe the best you've done yet.

Danbo,

What away to start the day, looking at those two beauties!

The big one is what I would call a "Collection Foundation Piece",
which I define as an exciting and virtually unimprovable example of the makers work.

Simply outstanding!

I love the large one - wow... May I inquire what the price point is?

The biggun is a clear classic, but I have to say that I'm really fond of the "little" one as well. Something about the combo of the stout blade, the asymmetrical oval guard and the shaped handle really come together for me. Have a great show to all attending!

Thanks big Dan, I'll see you guys in a couple days.

Peter, I thought you might like this one, it's a beast at 18-1/2'' oal.

Thanks,

Dan, if you hadn't posted the two of them, you'd be getting all the ooh's and ahh's. As it is that Movie Star simply steals the show!

I see that handle as a fiery torch lighting up the blade! What a handle.

I'd need to blow out the wall to my studio to capture all of that. It's a BIG one. Damn!

I'm really liking the walnut bowie, too. It is so smmmmmoooooth..... Congrats to all. Good luck in Saint Louey!

The large one is obviously an exceptional piece and I really like it. However, there is something about the lines of the smaller knife that really catches my eye.

They are both very cool yet very different! The big one is slender and classy, the small one looks heavy duty yet classy :) Congrats Danbo!
That piece of stag makes me droll ;) Don did a great job as usual.

Frankly, Keith. I'm surprised you haven't made it your avatar yet! :p :D :)

Danbo,
Thanks for postin'!
The clip on that BIG one is the nicest I have seen on a blade that size.Have to agree with Peter on that one and Coop for his words describing the stag, as it is just fantastic.
The smaller one is just incredible as well, dig everything about it.The walnut is so very nice and I can only think of one guy who deserves it more. :p
Best of luck and congratulations if ya' snatch it up.

Very nice (understatement):D . Practice makes perfect and these ones are beyond perfect. Way to go Don.

Marcel

Wow, thanks for the comments guys.

If the big one doesn't find a home in St.Louis, I will send it to Coop for proper photography

I didn't think I would like the small one (Danbo talked into making it) but when finished I really liked it and hate to see it go. I think I'll keep it and just pay Danbo for the wood :p He don't need another knife :p

FANTASTIC work on both my friend! :D

I love the curvy, flowing lines of the smaller one (kind of like the way a line flows around a woman's body) but I'll admit the massive and formidable appearance of the big one really does it for me.

Did you have Culpepper dye that stag for you Don? It's ridiculously well colored.

GREAT STUFF! :D

Nick - Yep, Culpepper did dye the stag and I like it for a change but I also like good natural stag also.

Thanks

Wow!Excellent...which seems to be the norm in this case.I'm still trying to free up some time this weekend so I can make the show.
