I haven't posted any knives for a long time, but i still managed to finish a few blades
They're both new designs and i would like some honest feedback from some more experienced makers!

They're both ground from 1/8" o2 toolsteel, both convex grinds.
The smaller one is 7.7" overall with a 3.6" blade, handle is plain oak.

The larger knife is 9.3" overall with a 4.7" blade, handle is black (i think) canvas micarta with 10mm copper tubing.
As you (hopefully) can see in the last picture, it has an extended pommel.

Let me know what i think, and please be honest! ( i have 4 more of the smaller knife in the works! :) )

I can only judge from the reflections but it seems that the convex on the big one is a bit too pronounced(steep). Also, I would counterbore the tubes below the face of the handle to avoid hotspots(friction areas). Other than that (which might be an optical illusion and personal preference) I think they look fine.

For the tubes... something like this but more subtle(not as deep)

I don't wanna seem like im going in defence mode here, but the convex on the larger knife is really nice and thin, i used it to slice up some tomatoes yesterday, and it did really well.
As for the tubing you're right, i just didn't notice it at first :o
Thanks for the input!

Cool. Like I said, I am only going from the pictures and the fact that a common tendancy among new makers is having convex geometry that is too "rounded". Do you have a caliper(vernier)? If so, it is a good idea to take several measurements along the edge for reference. It can tell you a lot about your bevels. Not something you would need to do on every knife.

1. Apply marker/dye to your blade.
2. Set the vernier to a thickness (.015/.020" to start).
3. Straddle the edge with the vernier and lightly drag it the length of the blade.

I have a caliper yes, maybe i should try that, it sounds like a really good idea!
Thanks again!

I'm with Rick.... it needs to be thinned down. It may very well work nicely now, but it would work better if it was thinned. :)

I like the designs/knives :)

I really like the little one, looks like it would be a good B&T knife. Again hard to tell from the pics, but the big one does look a little thick.

Nice work, though!

Nice designs. What do I see at the pommel end of the large knife's handle? Some of the handle material cut away to expose the tang? Is this just for looks or does it have a function? I can't see it very well.

I tried a lot of new techniques when making this knife, and it was just a last minute thing i did right before epoxying up the handles, but i guess the name for it would be either window-smasher or skull-crusher :p but it was mostly just to try the technique out ! :D
