A couple of old Cases

I picked these two older Cases up at the end of 2007 I believe with the intention of restoring them to carry and use. I got them off of Ebay and of course, they were not really as described. Someone polished all of the blades and the bolsters, and I can't tell if the bone scales were intended to look "pocket worn," are actually pocket worn, or were buffed thin by the previous owner. I wonder if I can send them back to Case and have them re-scaled...

The 62087 is the perfect size for me for a small, non-work knife. It is a little larger than a peanut and offers more to grip. The blades appear to be CV on both the 62087 and the 06247 PEN. Both knives are marked with Case XX and have pinned shields. One of the scales on the 06247 is loose and the main blade on the 62087 appears to have been broken and reground. Both are dull from the polishing job by the previous owner.

I am probably going to sharpen them up and give them some pocket time and hopefully one will make enough of an impression that I take it to my brother's wedding. I've been looking for a small knife with jigged bone handles to carry in my suit but nothing I have fits the bill.

ETA: I just put a drop of mineral oil in the joints of the 62087 and what was gritty opening now has superb walk and talk. This knife is functionally perfect.

I'd say those scales look about right to me, commensurate with the blade wear. Those are '40 to '64 vintage, and it looks like they've lived well. I'll add a +1 to the comment above, and just say USE 'EM!

Very nice.

Nice well worn original knives. You could send them back to Case for a minor "tune-up" especially for the loose handle.

Mmmm..... those handles just look warm and delicious, like a hot cinnamon roll. Maybe I'm just hungry. Anyway, I agree, unless they are loose or in danger of becoming further damaged, I would'nt change a thing. That looks just like honest wear and well earned for a senior citizen with some spark left and work to be done.
