Some time back, I came into possession of a couple of older Case knives. On top is a Razor Barlow the stamp puts it as manufactured between 1940 and 1964. The Daddy Barlow looks like it was made between 1920 and 1940. At least I hope I'm reading the stamps correctly.
They belonged to my Masonic Brother and long time family friend, Woody, who is now in a nursing home suffering from the end stages of Alzheimer's disease. He is 93 years old. In his day, old Woody was quite the hunter and fisherman. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps in the late 1930s and early '40s. He worked as a butcher until his retirement. After retiring, he bird hunted and fished full-time.
Woody always asked me to see what knife I was carrying whenever we visited and would give my knife a thorough inspection. He always tested the sharpness with his thumb and made sure my knife's joints were oiled -luckly my knives always passed his loving inspection.
Both these came to me razor sharp, fully convexed, and well oiled. I wish they could tell my their stories.
I carry these old Cases on occasion and always smile when I use them. I remember my old Brother as he was -strong and sharp.
Sorry about the scan quality. I'm new to scanning.
