A couple of quick thoughts on the Sage1 & 2

Hi gang, I just got my Sage2 in today after months of growing to love the Sage1. I really thought I would like the Sage2 better but that may not be the case. Time will tell but I did notice three obvious differences.

First, it's harder for me to close the Sage2 one handed because my middle finger is naturally pressing against the R.I.L. counteracting my thumb which makes disengaging the lock awkward. I'm sure there's a diff. technique that would easily become habit but to switch between the two knives it may give me fits.

Second, the Sage2 is slimmer which surprised me. It makes sense though without the need for steel liners.

Third, I still love the Sage1 Carbon Fiber. It feels so nice.

They're both great knives and completely flawless fit and finish on both. Bring on the Sage3. :D

Nobody ever said you had to like the sage 2 better than the sage 1.

My hand naturally moves so that my fingers are out of the way when i go to close my sage 2. maybe i'm just used to frame locks.

Yeah, I think I just need to get used to the Frame lock, then I'll be able to use the same motion for both.

ive been tempted to get the sage 2 for a while now but im not sure how i like frame locks the only other one i have used is a kershaw leek and im not that fond of it. I really like my sage 1 tho has become my favorite spyderco

My sage 1 is making me really want a sage 2. I'm just afraid the sage 2 might be a bit heavy in pocket.

I don't notice any weight difference in my Sage 1 & 2 when carrying them, even though there might be some. I notice the very slight extra thickness on the Sage 1 more than anything else.

I prefer the Sage 2 over the 1 by a pretty good margin but both are almost the perfect EDC IMHO

you know what you have to do now, you need to make the frankensage!
congrats on finally getting it, i imagine the wait was bad!

Well, the Sage2 is growing on me as it breaks in some. The thinner Sage2 rides nicer in my pocket but doesn't fill my hand as well as the Sage1. I did also notice the angle on the pocket clip is different than the Sage1 due to the frame lock. It's minimal but may help angle the knife back towards the rear of the pocket some.

I can also appreciate the simplicity of the frame lock and single slab of titanium on each side as opposed to the liner lock and drilled SS liners. There's less areas for dirt and crud to get caught on the Sage2. All in all they're both great knives. Considering I paid around $90 for the 1 and $160 for the 2, I'd say the Sage1 is the better value but still feel I got my money's worth on the Sage2.

Gotta remember that the Sage 1 is definitely worth more than that steal of a price! 3D Carbon fiber, s30v, FFG, perfect F&F, jimping, finger choil, skeletonized liners, treated anodized wire clip, and for that small of price?

Own both and like my Sage 2 a hair more as well. Sage is definitely a Spyderco Award Winner in my book!

Glory Pics!!! :D
