a couple of ram questions

It's a flipper and a very good one at that! I don't own a blur so I can't say about the thickness though! :p

It's not assisted open but the tension from the hawk lock makes it feel like it is an assisted. Closing the blade is way easier than assisted openers though.

I prefer the RAM to most of my assisted openers. The HAWK lock is very smooth opening and closing using the flipper. It is just a bit thicker than the Blur but its not enough to make that much difference to me personally.

Just picked up a RAM 2 weeks ago. It is terrific, the ergonomics on that knife are excellent and the blade shape is great. As for the blur, it is in a class all its own, RAM is slightly thicker, but not by much.

thanks all for your input. i've been carrying an s30v blur for a couple of weeks now and it's a great knife. i love the blade steel and the speed assist opening, but i'm afraid it's a little too big for me and what i use a knife for on an every day basis. also, i'm tired of the thumbstuds scratching my hand every time i reach for something else in my pocket. if it was shrunk 15-20% and had a flipper it would be perfect. i'm trying to hold out for the cryo but i might just get a ram.

Like the others said, GET THE R.A.M.!
There's nothing like it. I got a second just days after buying my first, I was so impressed with it. Only knife I own two of. Very solid little knife.

I did the exact thing. Got a second days after the first. My other Kershaws hate it for making them sit on a shelf all the time :D

Definitely get a RAM while you can. Even aside from the excellent opening, the ergos alone make it worth having. I don't like most assists, but this is just as fast, has better feel (to me), and is easier to close. One of the very few knives I have a duplicate of, and one of even fewer I modded - some nice blackwood scales from Phillip Dobson- just for looks, although they feel pretty nice, too.

thanks again for all the advice. i'm on the pre-order list for a cryo and my wife is complaining that her computer hasn't worked for 3 years now. so i'm thinking my knife stash may have to go towards a new computer. of course she'll get the old one and i'll get the new one- sometimes you just have to make sacrifices:)
