a couple of rare Cabela’s ….Pro Gold series

I had a Buckcoat fixed blade I gave to a Son in law years ago and I always wondered how well they cut and how long they would stay sharp..

CJ really liked the concept and I think he field tested a prototype. I looked for a long time for a 112 version but Buck never made one that I am aware of. There IS a 450 version in gold and I have bought 2 (out of a run of 750) to make a blade swap into a 112 but gifted both to family members for Christmas. Years ago I had a 112 Custom with a gold coated blade but it was sharpened on both sides. I don't remember exactly what happened to it..

That's what happens when you buy something that is part of a larger set. I bought one of those buffalo-inlay chipflint knives. Then I found another. Then I found another. So now I realize I have maybe eight more to get. Before I got the first one, I was happy not knowing about them. So, I also didn't know about the "pro-gold" knives. So thanks alot.🙁

The chip flint series ran from 2006 to 2014. There were 9 100 series fixed blades plus the 110 and 112. Interestingly, the 105 was the only model not included. The 102 is the scarcest with only 250 made. The rest were issues of 500 or 1,000. Have all but one, the prices have really jumped making them a tough buy if you are just starting. I know what you mean about sets, I have the same weakness, not just for knives but for tools also. That missing wrench or socket just drives me crazy.
