Hey there everyone.
Well...... it seems as though these Threads are almost an everyday thing here-just look at the wonderful giveaways going on here all the time!!
I want to thank two people, now I know I need to thank many many more, but these two guys recently have been extremely kind to me, and I must pay my thanks toward them, these two guys - who have shown me fantastic generosity.

First - I (from our shared correspondence ) cant name my friend - ( and I respect that greatly ) who was so kind to me and gave me not only a wonderful GEC, but some treasured and meaningful things that have significant meaning to his past, That person knows who he is and can always come-on-in and say something if he so likes, but my friend, I want to say thank you so, so very much, you certainly made me sit back and try to grasp the importance that the whole package meant -not only to him, but also what it effect it had on me...I will share the photos of this lovely knife .... a GEC 25 with absolutely knock-out Stag......

Just a lovely knife that has been welcomed into my collection, and will be used - A LOT!

Once again - thank you for your extremely thoughtful package, it will not be forgotten.

Next, I would like to thank our very own Jack Black... isn't this guy just worth his weight in Gold!

Jack and I correspond a wee bit here and there, and its great.
Sue and I are going over to England to see her Family later this year, Sue and I can now go ahead and book our tickets, when we do get over there we are going to have the utmost pleasure of meeting Jack-that's something I am looking forward to GREATLY, I would like to show you my friends just what Jack has done for me....its really great...
I first got this package from Jack that contained these Fantastic Cards showing the magnificent Sheffield factories in full steam at the height of their time...I love this stuff, and as we all know its great when jack takes us on one of his tours around Sheffield...

This package was a thank you for when my Blade forums E/O decided to pack its bags and head on the big trip over to see Jack, ( but wait...theres more )...

Next thing, quite a few weeks later, I had our work Secretary Meri pop in home on her way from work, and she handed me a parcel!!...well, yep, it was from our Jack, and this is what was inside - a great pre WW2 Clasp knife and another card!! now these cards are great because they show us the local scenes which is great to see...ok lets get to the knife....

In the note Jack said he would like to send me this knife that had seen quite a bit of work, and seeing as though the knife had worked it's way through WW2 and more, he wanted me to take on this bruised beauty, and take it on I will, I am planning doing a LOT of outdoor living, - in the way of hiking, something Sue and I can do together and see our great Nation more, and this fantastic knife will join me... , this girl is going to be mine, and I am to spend some time sharpening tomorrow with this knife because I believe in Hand Honing, and I am always trying to better my technique, and I am getting there - Woe be the poor bugger who has ever taken one of my older knives :o - all I can say is I am getting a lot better, I leave a nice steady line with barely a scratch on the blade.
So I am looking forward to getting a nice edge on this ol' girl,..... anyway!!!... here she is, my 1939 Wragg, thank you Jack, I look forward to passing a knife personally to you when we meet Sir...

Nice thread Duncan.

Seemingly these knives couldn't be any further apart in terms of looks and condition, but the spirit in which they have been given makes them the closest of kin.

I think many of us share this spirit here and its our very own way of 'walking in another man's shoes'.
To share a knife with a Traditional fellow and, as we can't send ourselves over to see that person, what better way than to send a little of our selves this way.

Great gestures fellows and good on'yer Dunc.

Enjoy using those two great knives Duncan.....and maybe, by the time you've sharpened the clasp knife up, the #25 will be a little more lived in ;D

Hi Duncan,

I know that many of us here have had you very much in our thoughts, particularly over this past month, and it's fantastic that everyone here has been so supportive of you. What a great bunch of folks :)

That's a beautiful 25 from our anonymous friend, really spectacular, and it's well photographed too.

I'd like to send or give you a clasp knife as a proper user because I think they're great workhorses, but I figured that when you were facing your op, that if that old Wragg had been through a war, it might be a good luck charm in your own battle. Sorry it took so long to arrive.

Thanks for all the kind words, which I'm touched by, and I'm looking forward immensely to meeting you and Sue in person later in the year.

Your friend (one of very many here).

Jack

Very well put Duncan, I am sure you will cherish those presents as they were given from the harts of your friends.

Wow, those are some fine presents there buddy. You have to be a friend to have friends and I am sure they would say that they enjoyed brightening your day as much as you enjoyed getting these gifts. Speaks well of all of you.

Duncan, Jack, and anonymous friend, those knives are great! The stag on the the 25 is beautiful and I can't help but wonder what the clasp knife has been through during its service life.

I believe we truly do a special group here, although if it keeps up, there is going to be a convergence moment where no one is going to have any knives because they will all be in the mail to other people! :D

I couldn't have put it better.

Threads like these, and the hearts and actions they capture and impart, strengthen us all.

Sweet, sweet gifts, Duncan. You can bet I'm especially thrilled to see that you now have this in your paws:

That little easy-open cutout should help your big mitts keep aholt of it (and render it downright comfortable). Heh.

What a great thought, Jack, through and through. Sorry the timing was off, but not for lack of intent and action on your part.

 to you Jack!
And  to him who shall not be named;)

thank you for posting these pictures. The generosity here is amazing. I must compliment you on the stag on that #25 Northfield; it is without a doubt, one of the nicest sought-after stag i have seen. Congratulations my friend

Duncan,
thank you for being what you are for this forum. And thanks to Jack and Anonymous Joe for their gifts :)

That #25's stag is breathtaking, also that clasp knife looks as if it has been put to the test time and time again, and survived intact. If only you could figure out were it's been.
