I just got this knife and had A look inside which led me to a couple questions.
1. What kind of lubricant should I use on the blade pivot, safety slide, and torsion bar?
2. What kind of edge grind does this knife have?
3. Does anyone make custom shell halves? I think it would be neat seeing as they are kinda simple and could be made from anything. If I were to have these shells made in HIGH quality work with say....g10 how much would it run? And im not very fond of the "window" you can see the TB through.

Also, would making new shells or having them custom made be some kind of copyright infringment?

I'm not actually familiar with the particular knife you have, however:

I do have a Scallion. I have never lubed the TB, I'm not sure you actually have to. You can lube the piviot pin with most any oil (usually a gun oil). The safety, on the Scallion is made of plastic and runs along the liners (I don't think any lube is needed).

Shells (*scales ;) ), you should be able to have done by any knife modder. I have no idea how much that would cost as I have always done my own, and maybe you could do it as well. :)

Getting new scales shouldn't be copyright/trademark infringement. However this may void your warrenty. I don't think that Kershaw has that "disassembly will void your warrenty" thing, they send you a TB if your's breaks and you have to put it in yourself.

Good luck.

PS: Don't forget to post pics after you get your work done. ;)

Thanks for the post. You think if I asked around in the custom knife forum I could find someone to make them? I would try myself but I have no metal expierience and I wanted them done professionally so they look nice and are a perfect fit. Aslo, what matierials would you reccomend for new shells?
I was thinking something smooth with metallic blue and gold.
