So yesterday evening on the way home my wifes car broke down again. The alternator was fried and this alternator was just put on a few months ago. Well the worst part is she is suppose to start her new job on monday and needs the car. I went to the shop and was told it would cost 65 to be fixed. So i knew i would need to sell a couple knives in order for her to be able to start her new job on time. And calling out on the first day because of car troubles would of just looked horrible.

So even tho i didnt want to have to sell knives i just got, my priorities were in order and i posted a picture in the snark thread and shortly after jonny1280 sent payment for the knives. This is a big help and im thankful to the members who are always around to help, thanks again Johnny

And also to Wrknives who offered to loan me the money just on my word so that i would not have to sell my blades, thats pretty awesome of you man, And i cant express how grateful i am to have friends that will go out there way to help when problems arise. A real deep thank you to you bud! I would of rather kept my blades obviously but i just feel better selling something and making the money rather than borrowing money, especially during the holidays i would of just felt bad taking money from someone on a loan. but your kindness is appreciated on a very high level. thank you again.

Just dropped the car off at the shop and it should be all fixed by 2moro at the latest, so it will be ready for the wife to start her new job on monday. I cant thank you guys enough!

No warranty on that alternator? That's a pretty short life-span. I've changed out a bunch and they're usually pretty simple to do. Couple bolts and plugs and swap in the new one.

Anyway, good on you guys for helping out. Gotta love this community.

Yea i thought they would just fix it since they put it in just 4 months ago or so, but they said NOPE! I got the last alternator for 120 put in and everything last time and they said this time they would only charge for the alternator not the labor... or maybe it was for the labor not the alternator? im not sure, its a little mom and pop shop but normally they do good work and are reasonable to work with.

My guess is just labor. I've never found an alternator that cheap in a while, unless it was a junk-yard pull. Always good to have a shop you trust. We have a family-owned shop we love and they've taken great care of us. Had a head-gasket job done last winter on the Civic and they were easily $700 less than anyone else and the work is top-notch.

Glad you were able to get it fixed quick.
It is a blessing to have an auto shop you know and trust.
Vehicular trauma sucks!

No problem man! Glad you figured somethin out! I was actually gonna shoot you an email today, but looks like you got it figured out:) It's a huge family here, and I am glad to be apart of it. well sorta a part...still waiting on that BK number:)
