A couple sheaths

For the last couple weeks I've been working on sheaths. I had finished up all the smaller knives and then got started on the big boys. A couple nights ago I got the back sides of both these sheaths done. Yesterday morning I started to work on the top sheath when I happened to notice some nice size piece of scrape leather in the scrape leather pile. To big to toss but to small to actually use. Anyway a light bulb came on and I gave the new idea for me a go. The finished side of the top sheath was made from the scrapes in the pile. The bottom one I had a large enough piece of leather but the odd ball size wouldn't work so I cut it up and did it similar to the first one.

Shingled sheaths, interesting. A good way to use scraps. I saw the one posted on the shop talk forum, and wasn't too sure what I thought of it. I like it a lot better after being dyed. The longer, slimmer one with more sections looks better to me.

That's a GREAT idea Ray, and they look very nice dyed/stained

(although I do fell a little cheated at not getting another pic of the blades out of the sheaths :p)

Here's a picture of the knives unsheathed. The larger knife has a 12 1/2" blade, the smaller one has a 9 1/2" blade.

Way to go Ray. Those look great. I hope you have a good blade west show. I hope the new dig's work better then the old one's, see you there. PS all blade west has a new home,

Very nice sheaths, Ray. They have an almost faux alligator/bamboo look to them. I'd prefer a rounded tip but well done none the less.
