Long story short, upon seeing MobileFireLord's excellent writeup on the 14715, I ordered one when I found a combo edge model in stock, it came Saturday. My own preference is for knives with a stronger tip, and this picture told me the 14715 was a good choice...

Mine came ground quite a bit thinner towards the tip.
I just find the inconsistency curious. It's not the first time I've seen two of the same model of Benchmade/HK show that much variability, from example to example. Am I just lucky? Or does Benchmade tweak their geometry from run to run? Other than that, knife was above reproach. But I was expecting a stronger tip, so back it goes.
(If your preference is towards a finer point, go for it...but mine is not)
